60's Style Batman Robot - 2002

In the Sixties, the Asian markets put out some really cool tinplate litho stuff including some robots that they married to plastic heads. Those robots can go for a lot of money. Hey, I thought, I can make a big goofy looking Asian robot as well as the next guy. So I did. here's my take on a comics style Batman robot circa 1967. The base robot comes from a recent 15" robot that swivels, talks and lights up. The head is from the 1970's figural squirt gun. The belt is from another doll and the rest is custom made. Including the box which is made from design elements from the classic Nomura box art.

MEGO Style Fleischer Superman - 2005

The animation art of Max Fleischer is some of my favorite of all time. The Paul Dini/Bruce Timm Batman animated series was heavily influenced by this darker, realistic, simple style. I always wanted to do a version of the Superman and here he is.

1967 Ideal JLA Heroes 4-Packs - 2005

My favorite Batman items of all time have always been the Ideal playsets and figures. I wanted to repro every major display piece from their collection. I did the Batman playset first and am planning to do the JLA set in Spring of 2006 to finish the set. Here are the three figure 4-packs. These always appealed to me because of Ideal's beautiful packaging as well as the sculpting of the pieces themselves.

I recreated the art from the cards from photographs, scanning and redrawing quite a bit of it. The backing cards are output from a 6-color printer on to gloss cardstock. the name bases are done separately and cut by hand to allow for positioning of the figures.
